Alternatives

Firebase alternatives with SQL and Postgres

Firebase is quick to start with, but many teams outgrow document databases or want their data off Google Cloud. These alternatives cover auth, data, storage and functions.

How to choose

  • Where does your data need to live? On a provider’s shared cloud, in your own cloud account, or on a server dedicated to you.
  • How do you want to pay? Usage-based billing scales down to zero but can spike; flat plans are predictable.
  • Who runs the platform? Managed services do it for you; self-hosted software makes it your job.
  • What else do you need? Auth, file storage, background jobs and backups are often the deciding features.
