Quickstart
From sign-up to your first query.
1. Create an account
Sign up for Da8a. After you confirm your email, the dashboard opens on Start a project. If you already have an account, log in.
2. Start a project
Choose where the project runs:
- A plan: pick one of the plans shown (also listed on the pricing page). A dedicated server is set up with your project on it.
- A server you have: if you already run an avocolab / AvocaCompute server with 4 GB of RAM or more, add the project to it.
When the project is ready, open it. The Overview shows the project URL, the anon key, secret keys behind Reveal, and a client snippet you can copy.
3. Create a table
Use the Table editor, or paste this into the SQL editor and run it. It creates a table and lets each signed-in user see only their own rows.
create table todos (
id bigint generated always as identity primary key,
user_id uuid not null default auth.uid() references auth.users,
title text not null,
done boolean not null default false
);
alter table todos enable row level security;
create policy "Own todos" on todos
for all to authenticated
using (auth.uid() = user_id)
with check (auth.uid() = user_id);Not sure how to write a policy? Ask the McManus assistant in your project. It proposes the SQL and waits for you to click Apply.
4. Connect your app
$ npm i @supabase/supabase-jsimport { createClient } from '@supabase/supabase-js'
export const supabase = createClient(
'https://<your-project-url>', // Overview → Project URL
'<anon-key>' // Overview → anon key
)
await supabase.auth.signInWithOtp({ email: 'ada@example.com' })
const { data, error } = await supabase
.from('todos')
.insert({ title: 'Ship it' })
.select()Next steps
- Turn on sign-in providers and learn the client: supabase-js client.
- Add server-side logic: Edge functions.
- Moving an existing app? Import from Supabase.
- Hosting the frontend? Link a Chapong site to your project in one click.
