Postgres 16 pgvector · Auth · Realtime · Storage

Your own Supabase-compatible backend, on servers you own.

Every Da8a project is a complete backend running on a dedicated server: Postgres, Auth, an instant API, Realtime, Storage and edge functions. Keep your supabase-js code exactly as it is.

app.ts
import { createClient } from '@supabase/supabase-js'

// Same library, same API. Your server.
const supabase = createClient(
  'https://<your-project-url>',
  '<anon-key>'
)

const { data, error } = await supabase
  .from('todos')
  .select('*')

Coming next

If you love how fast AvocaData is, you’re going to love what comes next.

Imagine your Snowflake, Supabase or Google Cloud console with filters that run 5× to 50× faster, for 50% to 75% less than you’re paying now.

Filtering speed

5×–50×

Faster filters on the same data you query today.

Cost

50–75% less

Than what you’re paying for your current warehouse or database console.

Works with

Snowflake · Supabase · Google Cloud

Bring the workloads you already run.

Speed and savings depend on your data, queries and current plan. Snowflake, Supabase and Google Cloud are trademarks of their respective owners; Da8a is not affiliated with them.

What’s in a project

A complete backend, wired together

One project, one dedicated server. Everything your app needs around the database is included.

Postgres 16 + pgvector

A real Postgres database with pgvector for embeddings and similarity search, on your own server.

Auth

Email and password, magic links, Google, GitHub, phone and SAML sign-in, with users stored in your database.

Auto REST API

A REST API generated from your schema and secured by your Row Level Security policies.

Realtime

Subscribe to database changes from the browser and update the UI the moment rows change.

Storage

File buckets with access policies, used from the client with supabase.storage.

Edge functions

Deno functions deployed from the dashboard, with encrypted secrets read through Deno.env.get.

Backups & recovery

Nightly backups, point-in-time recovery and a standby replica option, managed for you.

Table & SQL editor

Browse and edit rows, create tables, write policies and run SQL in the dashboard.

Import from Supabase

Copy an existing Supabase project, including tables, data, policies, users and files, onto your server.

Works with supabase-js

The client you already know

Da8a projects speak the same APIs as Supabase, so the official @supabase/supabase-js library works unchanged. Point createClient at your project URL and anon key from the dashboard, and your queries, auth calls, subscriptions and uploads carry on as before.

  • No fork, plugin or wrapper library
  • Row Level Security policies work as you expect
  • Moving from Supabase? Swap two strings after the import

client.ts
// Sign in with a magic link
await supabase.auth.signInWithOtp({ email: 'ada@example.com' })

// Listen for new rows
supabase.channel('todos')
  .on('postgres_changes',
    { event: 'INSERT', schema: 'public', table: 'todos' },
    (payload) => console.log(payload.new))
  .subscribe()

// Upload a file
await supabase.storage.from('avatars').upload('ada.png', file)

// Call an edge function
await supabase.functions.invoke('hello', { body: { name: 'Ada' } })

Sovereign by design

Your data lives on your server

Da8a doesn’t pool your project onto shared database clusters. Each project runs on a dedicated server, and you know exactly where it is.

A dedicated server

Your project gets its own server. Your rows don’t sit next to anyone else’s, and the CPU and memory are yours.

Know where your data is

Each server runs in a named region, shown on your plan, which helps with data-residency requirements.

Flat server pricing

You pay for the server, not per request or per row. The price on the plan is the price you see each month.

No lock-in

It’s standard Postgres and the supabase-js API. Your schema, policies and client code stay portable.

Bring what you have

Import a Supabase project, or add a project to an avocolab / AvocaCompute server you already run.

Changes you approve

The McManus assistant in the dashboard proposes SQL, policies and functions. Nothing runs until you approve it.

McManus assistant

An assistant that asks before it changes anything

Ask McManus inside your project to design a table, write a Row Level Security policy or draft an edge function. It sees your schema (table and column names, policies, bucket and function names, but never your rows or secret values) and proposes the exact change. You review it and click Apply, and the change runs with your own permissions.

Pairs with Chapong

Frontend on Chapong, backend on Da8a

Chapong hosts your site with git-push deploys. Link a Chapong site to a Da8a project in one click.

  1. Push your site

    Deploy your frontend to Chapong with a git push.

  2. Link the backend

    Choose your Da8a project from the site’s settings. One click.

  3. Stay in sync

    The project URL, anon key and auth redirect URLs are kept in sync for you.
